Observant Judaism HQ

Hosted by WEBELIAHU

Your home for Jewish education and discussion. Judaism is not a religion, it is a covenant. A covenant is a contract, and God brought the full details of this covenant to His chosen Jewish Nation at Sinai, over 3,334 years ago. Observant Judaism HQ is where Jews of every level can learn, teach, and interact in the manner that God expects under the terms of the Jewish contract. Non-Jews are also welcome to join us. We also operate a second forum (Noachide HQ) dedicated to the issues of role of non-Jews in God's world. These two vitally important forums cover all aspects of the life of the Jew and the life of the non-Jew. This is the link to Noachide HQ: http://forums.delphiforums.com/Noachism/start

        "Remember how we were told, “The unvaccinated are filling ICUs and making another lockdown more likely”? Well, in the future, that will become “climate change deniers are violating your human rights by refusing to use a smart meter.”

         My doctor of many years often tried to urge me to take the flu vaccines. I always told him I wasn't interested. His retort was, "Don't you realize that by refusing to take a flu vaccine you are risking that OTHER PEOPLE might contract the flu from you."

         I told the doctor it is not that simple.

         Years later I asked my doctor if he was recommending the Covid vaccines to his patients. He told me that he was. I told him that by doing so he was risking the lives and health of his patients. He knew I was right, and it hit him very hard.

Courts are increasingly linking “climate change” with human rights

On 29 March, the United Nations General Assembly (“UNGA”) adopted the resolution A/77/L.58 requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (“ICJ”) on the obligations of countries that are members of the United Nations (“UN”) regarding climate change.

Part of the request relates to the human rights implications of climate change.  It references to international human rights instruments, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Commenting on the recent decision of the European Court of Human Rights in favour of a small group of elderly Swiss women who were backed by Greenpeace, the Off Guardian offered an explanation of why climate change is being linked to human rights.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for EVs

Average folks with jobs, shopping to do, errands to run and kids to transport actually want their cars to deliver them to their destinations in a timely manner while toting everything and everyone they might want to carry or tow, without blowing up while parked or burning down their residences in the process.

In truth, EVs had been tried and rejected before, largely due to the same problems they still have: range anxiety and cost issuesThe first electric vehicle, a locomotive, was tested in 1837, nearly 60 years before the first vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE) entered service. Electric locomotives couldn't compete with steam engines fueled by coal.

The first rechargeable batteries were created in 1859, but EVs still couldn't compete. Electric cars pre-existed the first gasoline and diesel-powered private vehicles, all without government support, subsidies, or tax credits, by the way, but they couldn't compete. They still can't. Yet now, in a vain quest to manage the climate, the government is putting its thumb on the scale to mandate or incentivize them with various types of support and regulations. Electric vehicles are generally much more expensive than their relatively comparable ICE counterparts, which explains why most EVs are sold to people in the top two income brackets, making the tax credits and other government support no more than welfare for the well-to-do and politically connected crony-capitalists.

But, even with support, the chickens seem to be coming home to roost. The top-selling EV maker's stock, Tesla, is in freefall, and its declining dividends reflect that. EV rival Rivian is laying off workers as its stock has fallen dramatically on losses topping $1.5 billion. Another early EV entrant, Fisker, which has already gone through one bankruptcy, now may be lurching toward its second, as its value has fallen to the penny-stock level. As EV inventories mount, Ford and GM, both of which announced billions in losses on their EVs, have reduced production lines and cut sales and production outlooks.

Plastic bags four times better for environment than “green” paper bag alternatives, study finds

If environmentalists were truly concerned about saving the planet from carbon dioxide (CO2) and other "greenhouse gases," they would immediately bring back plastic bags, which are now banned in many left-wing cities for being too "polluting."

New research published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology reveals that in 15 out of 16 applications of plastic covering 90 percent of global volume, non-plastic alternatives actually produced more greenhouses gases than plastic otherwise would. "And not just more, but significantly more," writes Chris Morrison for The Daily Sceptic.

"Over their lifetime cycle, paper bag substitutes produce at least four times more GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions than their plastic counterparts. Paper bags are noted to weigh significantly more than plastic carriers leading to higher GHG emissions for production and transportation."

Plastic is good, actually - In the aforementioned 15 applications, which cover five key sectors of plastic -- packaging, building and construction, automobiles, textiles and consumer -- durable, plastic products released anywhere from just 10 percent to upwards of 90 percent fewer emissions across the product life cycle. In the case of food packaging, there is simply no alternatives to plastic that even exist, let alone that work and provide any demonstrable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

"If carbon dioxide is your thing, and, of course, it is the crucial part of the reason for pursuing insane Net Zero policies, plastic needs to make a big comeback," Morrison says. "But of course it will not." "Despite revolutionizing modern industrial life, it has the misfortune to be a hydrocarbon. Most plastics are a by-product from natural oil and gas production. Thus plastic bad, anything else good."

Ironically, many green energy alternatives to earth-based fuels are likewise worse on the environment than the things they are supposed to replace. Take wind turbines, for instance, which result in the mass slaughter of flying animals, i.e., birds, in order to protect the integrity of their operations.

How can it be considered environmentally friendly to end the lives of animals when cheap and abundant oil and gas are readily available for use without the need for loud, bulky wind turbines and solar panels that take up an inordinate amount of land area and space?

In Germany, there is even an ongoing campaign to destroy entire forests, including the ancient ones written about in the mythical Brothers Grimm fairy tales, to make room for more of these obnoxious, undependable wind farms. Again, how does destroying the natural environment in any way save the planet? "And we must not get started on road and bridge chomping EV cars," Morrison further writes about electric vehicles.

         "To this day, there are 120,000 more votes that were cast in Pennsylvania than their records show voters who have cast votes. Think about that: 120,000 more votes than voters who cast votes. The margin in Pennsylvania was 80,000."

'The Most Secure Election in American History'

~~~~~~~ Texas had just filed its original action in the Supreme Court against Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan -- four swing states whose election officers had clearly violated election law in those states and with an impact that put Biden over the top in all four.
In Georgia, the Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, signed a settlement agreement in March of 2020 in a suit that was filed by the Democratic Committee that essentially obliterated the signature verification process in Georgia. It made it virtually impossible to disqualify any ballots no matter how unlike the signature on the ballot was to the signature in the registration file. The most troubling aspect of it, to me, was that the law required that the signature match the registration signature. When Brad Raffensperger, who is not part of the legislature, unilaterally changed the rule from what the legislature had adopted by statute, that change was unconstitutional, not just illegal.
Unilaterally, [the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Kathy Boockvar] got rid of a statute that election officials in Pennsylvania had been applying for 100 years to require signature verification. She then asked the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to approve what she had done....In other words, all of the statutory provisions that were designed to protect against fraud were obliterated in Pennsylvania.
To this day, there are 120,000 more votes that were cast in Pennsylvania than their records show voters who have cast votes. Think about that: 120,000 more votes than voters who cast votes. The margin in Pennsylvania was 80,000.
Election officials in heavily Democrat counties [in Wisconsin] also set up drop boxes. They even set up what they called "human drop boxes" in Madison, which is the home of the University of Wisconsin. For two or three consecutive Saturdays before the election, they basically ran a ballot harvesting scheme at taxpayer expense with volunteers – whom I suspect were actually supporters of the Biden campaign -- working as "deputized" county clerks to go collect all these ballots, in violation of state law.
A lot of these came in with the witness signatures, but the address not filled in. The county clerks were directed by the Secretary of State to fill the information in on their own. In other words, they were doctoring the evidence.
They were doing Google searches to get the name, to fill in an address to validate ballots that were clearly illegal under Wisconsin law. All told, those couple of things combined, more than 200,000 ballots were affected in a state where the margin victory was just over 20,000.
        "Such news underlines the growing body of evidence that wind power and other forms of renewable energies are not practical alternatives to meeting America’s long term energy needs, all while the Biden regime wages war on the country’s vast natural energy reserves."
CLIMATE FAIL: New York to Scrap Most Its Offshore Wind Projects, Not Economically Viable
The state of New York has confirmed that it will be scrapping most of its signature offshore wind projects, in a major blow to all those pushing the climate change hoax.
The projects were intended to help the state achieve its goal of 70 percent renewable energy by 2030 while becoming a nationwide leader in renewable energy, although they have now been deemed unviable. ~~~~~~~
The report adds that while New York is not giving up on wind power entirely, the decision   represent a serious setback:
It’s not the total end of offshore wind in New York but does represent a setback. There are still some projects off the coast of Long Island and New Jersey on the drawing board and one is already operational.
Environmental advocates are alarmed by the challenges facing the industry. Offshore wind is key to reaching New York’s goal of 70 percent renewable energy sources by 2030, along with other longer-term targets. But there is growing evidence that the mandate will be hard to reach.
Such news underlines the growing body of evidence that wind power and other forms of renewable energies are not practical alternatives to meeting America’s long term energy needs, all while the Biden regime wages war on the country’s vast natural energy reserves.
        Same-sex couples disproportionately live in coastal regions and cities, which are more vulnerable to such disasters. They’re also more likely “to live in areas with poor infrastructure, worse-built environments.”
        You mean places like much of Los Angeles? If you think global warming is real, and the risk is greater in Los Angeles, then MOVE! No one is forcing you to live there. By the way, I heard there are still a few people living in Los Angeles who are not gay. This applies to San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and tons of other liberal bastions as well.
UCLA study: Gay couples at greater risk from climate change
A new study out of UCLA says same-sex couples are at greater “risk of exposure to the adverse effects of climate change” than straight couples. These effects include “wildfires, floods, smoke-filled skies, and drought,” according to a report from KQED.
Same-sex couples disproportionately live in coastal regions and cities, which are more vulnerable to such disasters. They’re also more likely “to live in areas with poor infrastructure, worse-built environments.” Washington DC, which rates high for “climate risks” such as heat waves, floods, and “dangerously strong winds,” has the greatest proportion of gay couples in the U.S.
San Francisco ranks second, and also faces a high climate change risk. According to KQED report, the city’s Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District flooded 22 years ago, “swamping” the entire area. The closest supermarket, Rainbow Grocery, also got flooded.
... and the abject stupidity of the "woke" class continues unabated...
